Hg2 : The Hedonist

Ramsay Short

Ramsay started his journalistic career at London’s Guardian newspaper and The Independent on Sunday before moving to Beirut in 2001. He became the Features Editor for Beirut’s Daily Star broadsheet before joining The Daily Telegraph for three years as its Beirut correspondent in 2004. In 2005 he wrote Hg2 Beirut and in 2006 became the founding editor in chief of Time Out Beirut. In 2008 he returned to London to launch and edit the award-winning travel magazine for Ryanair, Ryanair Magazine, and spends most of his life travelling and DJing disco music for his many fans. He loves any music by Madlib and Jay Dee and a nice dram or two of Ardbeg 30 Years Single Malt, but loathes pigs’ trotters. What makes him a hedonist? “Isn’t life all about pursuing pleasure? For me it’s all about rampant sex, drugs and drinking, and, of course, great food. That, as well as travelling across the world. This for me is the path to spiritual enlightenment.”
