Al Ajami
Al Ajami, one of the best Lebanese restaurants in Beirut, opened pre-war and has remained open on the sea road ever since. It’s typically old-school, with comfy cushions and sofas are scattered throughout its pre-fab home overlooking the sea.
Ajami is the place to catch up on local stories and gossip from the traditionally dressed and over-attentive waiters. This is the place to drink arak, smoke narguileh and gorge yourself on plates of mezze, schwarma, bowls of fresh vegetables and divine olives. The Arabic desserts are especially good (the halawi and baclawa are particularly sweet).
The atmosphere is typically vibrant, with lots of fun and loud Arabic music. Ajami is located in an exclusive residential neighbourhood far from the rest of Beirut’s dining scene. When you leave, take in the coastal air and stroll down to the beach. You won’t regret it.
