Al Samadi Café and Sweet Shop

Al Samadi Café and Sweet Shop, a Lebanese export and leading name in confectionary (it was founded in Beirut in 1872), is an affordable and still shockingly under-the-radar outpost in Downtown Burj Khalifa. Part-Lebanese eatery and part-Belle Époque French-style patisserie, Al Samadi is a must-visit for brunchers or those with a serious sweet tooth.

Its multi-course brunches are some of the best in Dubai – picture course after course of lentil soup, tabbouleh, raita, chiken kibbe, and spiced rice that will have you fit to bursting – though its trays of pastries are the main draw for many. There are more than 40 different kinds of sweets on offer here, and the flaky, honey-doused baklava is the stuff of dreams. Whether you’re leaning sweet or savoury, then, strap in for a feast (or head out to the terrace on cooler afternoons).
