Standing up in front of strangers and belting out ‘Like A Virgin’ may not be the most obvious way to boost social standing among your peers. The art of karaoke crooning can be either hilarious or humiliating, depending on how nice your friends are – and where you choose to sing. Those who head to Amour cannot go wrong.
The bijou selection of four outrageously sleek karaoke rooms, next door to Le Baron de Paris nightclub, is the perfect place to unleash your inner pop princess. There is the tiny top-to-toe gold room with padded walls; a vinyl leather day bed and champagne bar; two Marc Newson-designed rooms, with dark leather seating and sexy lighting; and the fourth is home to a mini mirrored dance floor for those Kylie moments.
The only downside? Amour is a firm favorite among fashion and music aristocracy, from Daft Punk to Agyness Deyn, so check the door is firmly closed before launching into a sake-fuelled rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody at four in the morning (humiliating as opposed to hilarious). You have been warned.
