Hg2 : The Hedonist

Anita Wronski

A landmark on the Berlin café map, Anita Wronski is always busy with the many artists and actors living in Prenzlauer Berg. Casual mid-morning meetings take place over the simple wooden furnishings and a mezzanine level offers seclusion and comfort for those in the company of a good book. Large nostalgic black and white photographs cover the walls and elongated iron radiators climb from floor to ceiling. During the week the space offers a peaceful sanctuary for roaming free-thinkers with only the irresistible spluttering of a coffee machine offering any interruption. At weekends, however, young families descend and the ground floor space can become an assault course of prams and push chairs. Outdoor tables affording a view of the Wasserturm (water tower) are always busy as Anita Wronski receives the most sunshine of all the cafés around here. During the week an ambitious à la carte breakfast menu is served, with some Asian dishes available from 10am-4pm. On Sundays a generous buffet, with an emphasis on fresh and healthy ingredients, is on offer. Comfortably bohemian.
