Hg2 : The Hedonist

Anna Blume

Despite being named after a Kurt Schwitters poem, there’s nothing at all pretentious about this lovely Berlin café-cum-flower shop. Flowers and coffee may seem like strange bedfellows, but the two enterprises are run separately with a modicum of crossover in the petal-laden cakes, crêpes and ice cream. These sweet treats – plus the jugendstil interior, top service and hearty lunches and breakfasts (including a three-tiered Anna Blume platter for two) draw a constant and loyal crowd to Anna Blume. A little more conservative than trendy Sowohlalsauch across the road, but since it has the same owner, that would appear to be precisely the plan.
