Aristocrat is a typically Bakuvian example of the Old Azeri proverb ‘more is most definitely more’. From the clear perspex baby grand piano to the solid-gold bathroom fittings and even – I kid you not – loo bowls, no expense has
been spared air-freighting the very best of European uber-luxury to make your dining experience just a little more lavish. It’s a little like an explosion in a Versace showroom. A mezzanine in the first room houses the VIP room where the owner – an ‘important individual’ – can lord it over the aristocratic rabble. Walls are hung with portraits of suitably haughty looking European aristocouples, while tables are bedecked in more gold, with top-grade imported tableware, as one would expect. The menu is Italian and very good – the black pasta being a particular favourite.
