Another beautiful day in Africa, and whereas most temporary Camps Bay residents will be dashing off to the beach for the day, you’ll probably find yourself wanting to lounge about in one of the elegant, pared down spaces which make Atlantic Suites one of the most picturesque B&Bs in Cape Town. Chic and understated, this solid family home — appealingly reincarnated as an exclusive guesthouse accommodating just eight guests — is like an auditorium for showstopper views of the seemingly infinite Atlantic Ocean that spreads out below. Although there’s a cosy, contemporary lounge with book and decorative detail, the breakfast room above is entirely empty of excess, with Starck’s Louise Ghost Chairs floating like real ghosts in the blue landscape of sea and sky. Each of the bedrooms at Atlantic Suites is the size of a suite (the two upstairs enjoy especially fine views, even from the bathroom) and flawlessly executed in hushed tones and such considerate luxuries as a complimentary mini-bar, spa-grade toiletries, and living breathing plants-orchids and lilies-that not only complement and soften the room design, but signal some serious eco-consciousness.
