Au P’tit Garage
A sweetly shabby Oberkampf hang-out that’s pure rock ‘n’ roll – think Jesus & Mary Chain, not Bon Jovi – from the lurid ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll High School’ poster plastered on the scuffed red and yellow walls to the 1950s fridge (entirely decorative, we think) in the corner.
Not to be confused with a real car workshop down a few doors on the same drag, Au P’tit Garage has three rooms: a former butchers, clothes store and, yes, a garage. The furniture is wonky and knackered, the music policy loud, alternative, anything but anodyne, and the clientele indie, friendly and full of post-gig gossip.
If you like your beer with a chaser of Stiff Little Fingers or Siouxsie, or you’re all luxed out and in need of a spot of grubby rehab, this ought to do the trick.
