Azar
Marrakesh’s newest hot spot is by the restaurateur and night-life impresario Marcel Chiche, the man behind the legendary Comptoir bar and restaurant, Azar is a new restaurant-cum-brewery-cum-clubspace that essentially offers Lebanese food in stylish surroundings. It’s an attractive proposition from the moment you enter the buzzy ambiance of the main room – traditional but refined with furniture specially designed by local designer Younes Duret. A seductive mezzanine level serves for more intimate dining and premium people-watching. Food is made by Lebanese chefs drafted in from Al Ajami, an acclaimed Parisian restaurant and is lavish and tasty – a mix of mezze, kafta mechwi and lots of dessert options, eaten to live Gnawa music. Once you’ve worked your way through the food, trot downstairs to find a small but perfectly formed club, where you can enjoy some pumping tunes and the temptations of a fully stocked bar.
