The Bacchanal wine bar answers the question you’ve always wanted to ask: what do truly dedicated chefs do on their night off? Some, such as Ian Schnoebelen and Eric LaBouchere, staff the barbecue grill and portable burners at Bacchanal, cooking food that stretches beyond their normal menus. The wine shop at the edge of the Bywater turns its back patio into an makeshift restaurant on Sunday nights (and Fridays for tapas). Cosmopolitan couples and groups of in-the-know culinary connoisseurs down bottles of wine, chat while a jazz combo plays, and savour paper plates full of vibrantly flavoured food.
