Hg2 : The Hedonist

Traditional traders can still be found in Baixa, the criss-cross streets of one of Lisbon’s oldest shopping areas. Many have been selling their wares for over 100 years thanks to lease laws enforcing a freeze on rents. A colourful collection of haberdashers, perfumeries, tailors and miracle herbalists can be found crammed into the tiny backstreets. Historically, the roads of the Baixa were named after different trades, which in the case of Rua da Aurea, a street of jewellers, continues to be the case.
