Baker Beach
Once in a great while there’s a warm, sunny day in San Francisco and everybody piles in the car and heads for perhaps the most stunning of all San Francisco beaches, Baker Beach. While the water is always freezing, no matter how spectacular the weather, the views are so breathtaking and the people-watching so intriguing, you will never lack entertainment. Grab a patch of sand and study the Golden Gate Bridge, the Marin Headlands in their rugged glory, the sparkling expanse of the great Pacific, and the waves crashing on shore. San Francisco locals stroll by, sporting pale bare skin. At the northern end of the beach, folks bare all and expect others to keep their eyeballs politely fixed on the horizon. Yet, the water is cold and treacherous. It’s best for splashing and wading, not swimming.
