A guesthouse that is a cut above the rest, the Baleva has a handful of rooms in a stunning tall, slender townhouse overlooking a small cobbled square in the heart of the Old City. As with all hotels in this category, don’t expect anything
ultra-deluxe, but do expect things to be good, simple and clean. Rooms are airily decorated in light colours with interesting black and white photographic prints of Baku and around Azerbaijan. They do also vary in size, so ask for one
of the rooms situated at the end of the building that overlooks the square, as these have small balconies and a few extra square feet of floor space. The staff at the Baleva is young, friendly and personable and very happy to help you out with restaurant reservations and the like.
