Justifiably priding itself on being the best of the Thai restaurants in Lisbon, Ben Thia is located beneath the flyover, close to the River Tejo. The restaurant is both spacious and minimal, with selective ornamentation spread throughout. Thankfully, the effect is soothing rather than clinical.
Staff are mainly Thai and extremely attentive. Wherever language barriers permit, they are eager to assist diners with their selection. Specialities include phong karee (crab curry) and kha moo (pork leg). As with most South East Asian restaurants in Lisbon, Ban Thai is popular with a young and fashionable crowd. The atmosphere is especially lively on Friday and Saturday nights when Thai dancing takes place in the restaurant.
