Bar and Books
The seductive and sophisticated Bar and Books is for drinking in Prague what its Lexington and Hudson counterparts are for drinking in New York.
Tynská is one of the city’s cuter back streets, and this small bar fits in perfectly; candles are usually flickering outside, drawing you towards a mysterious, darkened interior – it’s almost impossible to walk past without wanting to find out more.
Once you’ve pushed back the heavy velvet curtains you’ll find yourself in a tiny, dark and delightfully upmarket cocktail bar, greeted by professional, well-dressed staff (including a bartender in a tux) and introduced to a fantastic drinks list that includes Martinis, brandies, whiskies, wines, cocktails and cigars. There’s no real food on offer, but instead an incredibly intimate atmosphere that is just as perfect for pre- or post-dinner drinks as it is a premeditated charm offensive.
