Bar Museo Los Gabrieles
Bar Museo Los Gabrieles is one of the most historic bars in Madrid, which dates back to 1890, the walls are entirely covered in the most beautiful tiles and tiled pictures. Bar staff at Bar Museo Los Gabrieles will tell you that there is an entire history behind each glazed tile and that Spain’s finest flamenco dancers have performed before them.
These days, there are flamenco shows every Monday and Tuesday starting at 10.30pm and again at midnight, but on other nights it’s a mix of pop and rock. Somehow the likes of REM and Kylie don’t sound quite right among the old pictures of bullfighting and posters of flamenco dancers, but this bar has chosen to cater for all.
The crowd is a mixture of tourists (they’re the ones staring at the walls in awe), and 20- and 30-something locals; go late in the afternoon, and you’ll find families celebrating special occasions, or local businesspeople having a bite to eat. Drinks tend to almost double in price after 8pm.
