The Barney’s chain of four venues is best known for its weed concoctions, which regularly win titles in the Cannabis Cup, and the coffee shop over the road from this slick venue (see separate review in Party) is one of the best in town. Uptown doesn’t sell weed itself, but considers itself ‘smoker friendly,’ so you may find a few punters have brought their stash over to sample the food and booze available here. There’s a good selection of cocktails, wines and draught beers, along with a chilled atmosphere that is equally welcoming to those who aren’t interested in sparking up. But the food is surprisingly good too, particularly the ?55 two person menu, which offers four courses and includes among the option duck filets and Guinness chocolate cake. Surely no other smoking den has ever produced such high quality treats as these?
