The BeerGeek bar in Prague is beer mecca. They source some of the best craft brews in the world and bring them to one trendy, friendly spot. The space is bright and colourful, with a chunky wooden bar. But it’s the taps that stand out – 32 of them, all lined up, ready and waiting to unleash amazing beers from around the world.
Local beers, including their own brew – Sibeeria Brewery – make a strong appearance. But the beers on tap change regularly, some everyday, so there’s always something new to try from the Czech Republic, and further afield. The stuff on show here is hard to find anywhere else. There might a Belgian cherry beer on tap one day, the India Pale Ale, Renaissance Voyager, the next. The British Tiny Rebel Clwb Tropicana, a tropical IPA, could be hooked up when you arrive, or the chocolate milk stout, Falkon Kamšot. There are, after all, dozens of taps, so there’s something for every taste.
Speaking of taste – there’s also a kitchen dishing up everything from silky smooth hummus to plates of Italian cured meats. And, in a stroke of sheer genius, they’ve got amazing chicken wings, available in 16 different flavours. Is there anything better than a cold beer and a plate of hot wings? We think not.
But that’s just at the bar. If you head over to their shop, Pivotéka BeerGeek, on Slavíkova 10, one of the biggest selections of bottled beer in the city awaits – around 500 bottles in total. And should you feel inspired, or just get swept up by the hoppy goodness of it all, you can always pick up some brewing supplies and take the craft beer experience home with you.
