Beijing Concert Hall
The Beijing Concert Hall is widely considered to have the best acoustics in the capital. Nearly destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, the venue was renovated in 1985, with the help of world-famous conductor Li Delun, to become the country’s first performance space with top-notch sound capabilities. There is a 15-panel reflective board hanging above the stage in three groups that sends sound waves to every corner of the hall. Dedicated primarily to classical music, it hosts both Chinese repertories and A-list international performers such as Yo-Yo Ma, Plácido Domingo, and Seiji Ozawa, in its 1,000-seat hall.
