Bellagio
Not a hotel or casino in Las Vegas, Bellagio is rather a Taiwanese restaurant on the Chinese club strip of Gongti Xi Lu. The décor is perhaps a bit reminiscent of Sin City with white leather couches, walls of mirrors and vibrant colors. The waitresses don mandatory matching boy-short haircuts in addition to their black-and-white uniforms and provide eerily efficient service. Open until the wee hours this is a great place for a midnight snack (called xiaoyè in Taiwan) but be forewarned that not all of your fellow diners will be able to walk a straight line. There is an array of Taiwanese, Hakka and Sichuan specialties to choose from including sanbeiji, or Three Cup Chicken, which is infused with soy sauce and served with ginger, scallions and garlic. But Bellagio’s real draw is the enormous shaved ice desserts in kiwi, mango, strawberry or peanut flavors.
