Ok, not strictly in Tel Aviv, but a two-hour drive outside the city in the Negev desert, there is a wonderful hotel, the Beresheet. Sitting on the rim of a volcano crater the hotels views are unparalleled and are something worth experiencing. The colours that suffuse the landscape are extraordinary and their is a feeling of the power and extent of nature. The hotel’s 111 chalets are scattered around the site, all with breathtaking views and decorated in a simple, light clean style. The main hotel building is two stories with a good restaurant and a cocktail bar, perfect for those spectacular sun-downers. Two swimming pools (one indoor the other out) have fabulous views and there is a spa and Turkish bath for those in need of a little pampering. For those who want to get physical there is a tennis court on site, but the hotel offers mountain biking, horse treks, jeep tours, climbing and abseiling as well as just good old fashioned walking. As a hotel it can be beaten as a location we’ve run out of superlatives.
