Bibi Heybat Mosque
The Bibi Heybat mosque was a casualty of the Soviet’s destructive regime and has now been entirely rebuilt. A stunning and absolutely huge mosque, it is worth a visit and best viewed when lit up by night, perhaps after a visit to the excellent nearby Khazar fish restaurant (see Eat) or at dawn, en route to the mud volcanoes and stone carvings of Gobustan (Beyond Baku, see
Play).
