Biscuits & Blues
Live acts play nightly at Biscuit and Blues, a subterranean Southern speakeasy near Union Square, which has now endured more than a decade as one of the best live music bars in San Francisco. The full-service restaurant upstairs serves down-home staples such as jambalaya, catfish, its illustrious biscuits, and fried chicken. Downstairs, blues artists of every stripe rock the house. The setting is intimate, with tables squeezed into a small, dimly lit space. The whole club is sit-down, so you can relax with a beer and enjoy the show. Don’t plan to socialise once the music starts, it’s far too loud. Generally, it’s traditional blues and bluegrass at Biscuits and Blues on Mondays, women in the spotlight on Tuesdays, Chicago-style blues on Wednesdays, roots on the weekends, gospel on Sundays.
