In the early days of the digital era, Blowfish Sushi was another addition to the list of sushi restaurants in San Francisco, and it felt like something out of Blade Runner: with racy anime features running on TVs above the sushi bar, sexy electronica turned up loud, and tattooed counterculture divas with weird hair serving over-engineered Japanese cuisine. All that is still true; it’s just that the times have caught up to the place, so it all feels slightly less avant-garde. The crowd remains urban-edgy, though some of them have grown up and cashed in on their techie-savant skills. Now they bring their iPhones and their biz dev guys for deal talk and sushi. Asian fusion dishes are also available. Singles can happily eat and drink at the small bar.
