Blue Note
Forget house or techno. There is another distinctively different sound for Tokyo nightowls to tap into: live jazz. The Blue Note is the place to head for an evening of world class jazz in an intimate setting. With a high-quality menu served at the tables, the Blue Note lies at the classier end of the live music spectrum in Tokyo, in terms of both ambiance and the cost of the bill.
But its line up is in a class of its own: over the last two decades, a raft of internationally acclaimed musicians have performed in the venue. From Dizzy Gillespie and Pat Metheney to Tony Bennet and Hank Jones, a dizzying roll call of jazz names perform at the club, located among the civilised designer stores of Aoyama. Tuck into some carrot mousse with sea urchin followed by pan fried lobster, washed down with a good glass of wine, before sitting back and enjoy the jazz.
