Hg2 : The Hedonist

Two planet-sized light shades made of brown crêpe chiffon signature the whitewashed vaulting of this post-modern cathedral to Italian food. One of the mellowest places in town for a relaxed lunch or a schmoozy dinner, Bocca was started in fact not by Italians but by a couple of Tallinn locals, who also own trendy restaurant Ö and hip nightclub BonBon.
rnDon’t come here if you are looking for the traditional Italian experience – instead Bocca is the sort of fashionable yet stylish eatery you might find in downtown Milan, or London, or any modern capital. When it comes to tips for top joints, Bocca is the word on everyone’s lips – and deservedly so – for its good looks, polite service and classic Italian fare with a dash of international colour.
rnThere is definitely a yuppie element to the clientele, with elegant and successful 30- and 40-somethings at tables alongside corporate groups. Bocca plays piped music of the ambient nightclub variety – the staple requirement for a ‘modern’ atmosphere in Estonia. Even the loos are stylish, with impressive granite flat-sinks.
