What started out as a bookshop now has two purpose-built kitchens for its cookery courses in London, taught by French, Italian, Japanese, British and vegetarian chefs (previously featuring big names such as Mark Hix, Skye Gyngell and Sam and Sam Clark). Most courses are demonstration only, plus a few hands-on classes. For instant gratification, the cafe at Books for Cooks serves fresh international meals, and for swots, books galore.
