Buddha Burgers
Tel Aviv, as with the rest of the country, is clearly carnivore-friendly. Shawarma and skewered meat dishes dominate the snacking options around town, while the hamburger, ostensibly an American import, has been innovated upon with artistic flare. Yet this is the fertile crescent, and being as such, Tel Aviv can easily serve as a vegetarian’s paradise. Buddha Burgers, a delectable vegan fast food chain, exemplifies the ease in maintaining such a lifestyle in Tel Aviv, and the proof is in the burger.
For a feast for all your senses, visit the original restaurant, located in the heart of el Aviv. Much of the furniture, decorations and even some of the fixtures at the Yehuda Halevi branch are composed of recycled materials. The Southern wall serves as exhibition space for local artists. The plant filled kitchen area opens into the main dining space, offering mouth-watering previews of the menu’s offerings.
In addition to their signature burgers, baked patties of tofu, okra, chickpeas and an assortment of other ingredients, the venue offers a constantly changing selection of wraps, pastas and salads. With 18 smoothies and juices to choose from, and a vegan desert menu as well, Buddha Burgers shatters any ideas regarding the vegan diet being limited and dull.
