On any other block, the Bulldog would be a standard sports bar. The pub offers video trivia, TVs tuned to all the big games, a crowd of young professionals, and burgers and burritos fit only for the inebriated. The impressive beer list, fifty on draft and one hundred in bottles, draws many discerning drinkers. What sets the Bulldog apart, however, is the shop across the street: The Big Fisherman. The seafood shop sells, depending on the season, hot boiled shrimp, crabs, and crawfish. Pick up a few pounds of seafood, grab a stack of old newspapers for a tablecloth, and head to Bulldog’s new patio, where the fountain is a long line of beer taps, to devour the bounty with a pitcher of Abita beer.
