Burgermeester
Move over MacDonalds, the Burgermeester (without the second ‘r’, which would mean ‘mayor’ in Dutch) has arrived in town. And this small hamburger shop in De Pijp has been an ongoing success since it arrived, opening an additional two shops in the first three years. You’ll find these on Elandsgracht 130 (Canal Belt) and Plantage Kerklaan 37 (across the road from Artis Zoo). From fresh tuna to deer, the burgers have the best meats and the freshest vegetables. The products don’t contain artificial flavours or colouring, and products used are often biological. Not that it’s healthy particularly, thanks to the generosity with the homemade sauces. Very much recommended is the combination of three mini-burgers, for a little taste of everything. Takeaway is available, but the majority of customers take a seat in the simply designed dining area.
