Hg2 : The Hedonist

Burnt Orange

There aren’t many cafés in Sydney which can boast sitting inside a beautifully restored sandstone golf club house from the 1930s with a wide, hardwood, wraparound verandah overlooking Sydney Harbour and the native bushland. If you head there for lunch try the famous fish pie, but be advised it’s most renowned as a picturesque breakfast spot – with freshly-baked scones, huge bowls of organic porridge stewed with figs, prunes and a dollop of Riverina cream, spongy buttermilk pancakes and organic eggs and crispy bacon all on offer. The main dining room is warm and inviting, but the verandah is where you want to sit – most of the tables and their bright pink wooden chairs afford a view of the headland, harbour and native birds. If you’d rather sit on the lawns in front, the picnic kiosk can rustle up a picnic basket of takeaway salads and sandwiches.
