Café Claude
Café Claude is possibly the most authentic of all French bistros in San Francisco right down to its zinc bar and casually sexy airs. The oft-told tale has it that owner Stephen Decker purchased Le Barbizon cafe in Paris and shipped it over one piece at a time. The result is a slice of France, nestled in a little alleyway. From the table settings to the always dashing but sometimes aloof service, it’s like you’ve been suddenly plopped down in the sixth arrondissement. Signature dishes such as cassoulet maintain the delightful illusion. Live jazz completes the scene Thursday through Saturday.
