Café de l’Homme
Unique and celebratory, and a complete change from calf’s head, this museum restaurant has become a rave among fashion editors, English ex-pats and well-to-do Paris families (plus their dogs, the night we were there). It’s all alive with party energy after dark, the mood set by reggae-disco and diners in groups, as well as pairs. The food is great, if verging on steep (you’re paying for the view). We can report flawless salmon with sauce vierge, great chips, organic steak tartare (no capers, though) and a memorably delicious ‘deconstructed’ lemon tart. Still, it’s neither the cooking nor the hangar-like, red-lit dining room, its lights made from tumbling crystals, that you’re really here for – the big deal is the full-frontal view of the Eiffel Tower from the terrace, which really does afford a bit of a thrill.
