Cafe de los Austrias
Located just a short walk from the Teatro Real and the royal palace, Café de los Austrias is a charming bistro in Madrid to grab a quick coffee or a glass of wine. The old fashioned interior at Cafe de los Austrias is presided over by a team of highly attentive wait staff, while a soundtrack of classical music plays out under a buzz of conversation from the older clientele.
There’s the odd nod to modernity, such as a plasma screen on one wall and the waitresses’ PDAs, but this is a traditional Spanish café through and through. While a full menu is on offer, Café de los Austrias is more suited to an afternoon or early-evening snack, thanks to a selection of 48 teas and 32 hot chocolates. The large undercover terrace outside makes this a real treat come the summer months.
