Café de Pijp
A suitably groovy bar to carry the name of the De Pijp district, this retro-styled cafe-cum-boozer is popular with the young and pretty locals. Its interior is stylishly 70s (or possibly late 60s), with small, curved stools, old school lamps and light fittings, and a general air of modish self-satisfaction. It’s more of an evening spot, and though it does a passable lunch over the weekend, is better appreciated after the sun has gone down. From Thursdays there are DJs playing, with tunes ranging from generic chilled-out house to gentle funk and soul. It adds to the atmosphere but doesn’t interfere with chat. A good base to begin a night exploring De Pijp.
