Hg2 : The Hedonist

Café Fleury

From the pleasant wooden outdoor terrace, the bonafide French aura or the flurry of cool characters that swamp the place at weekends one thing’s for sure: Fleury manages to stand out on a section of Weinbergsweg that’s all but drowning in eating spots. French-owned and run, Fleury’s simple yet classic white and blue décor and laid back attitude are down-to-earth, yet the space gives the impression of being more upmarket than most of the longer-serving, student-heavy places that surround it. And it is. The menu is resolutely French, with home-made cookies and pralines served as sweet snacks and wonderful terrines, tarts, salads and fresh-filled baguettes available for eating in or take-away. The breakfasts come with superb French cheeses and fruits, and are the main reason you need to book the terrace in advance on sunny summer weekends. Fresh, tasty food, pleasant service and peerless people-watching opportunities make Fleury an all round winner.
