Cafe Lafitte in Exile
Café Lafitte in Exile bills itself as the oldest continuously operating gay bar in America. The mostly (but not exclusively) gay clientele treat this tavern like a home from home. The regulars, who hail from the Marigny and the lower French Quarter, come back to Lafitte for the music, the upstairs dancing, and tje quiet conversations in corners, hidden away from the action. The balcony is a great place to watch the sun set over the French Quarter. The relaxed crowd always finds room for visitors.
