Café Swingdiele
This tiny Berlin café, Café Swingdiele is a new addition to the Charlottenburg scene, but has already earned serious kudos for its nods to the area’s steamier age: the Golden 1920s and 1930s. The eponymous ‘swingtime’ tunes flow from the speakers and the tasteful flea-market décor has been lovingly collected by owner Sabine. Home-made soups and pastries make up the basic but tasty menu, and high-quality roasted coffee is served alongside nostalgic alco-free drinks, such as Sinalco, and fruit or warm punches in summer and winter respectively. Once a week there are live concerts (7.30-10.00pm) with music from the 1930s to the 1950s. It might be small, but Swingdiele acts as a major portal to days gone by.
