Hg2 : The Hedonist

Cecconi’s Berlin

Cecconi’s Berlin is a sleek Italian restaurant outfitted with ruby-red leather booths, crisp white linens, and an Art Deco aesthetic with plenty of gleaming brass and imposing marble. And it’s mercifully open to the public despite being found on the ground floor of Soho House Berlin, the notoriously exclusive members club-cum-hotel.

The food here, while a nod to Italy in general, swings towards the north in its inspiration. That means diners can kick off a memorable meal here with an Aperol Spritz and a few fried olives with mortadella and provolone, before moving on to a dish of carpaccio served with a Venetian dressing and lashings of Parmigiano Reggiano or a mouthwatering Veal Milanese. There are, of course, plenty of scrumptious handmade pasta dishes (think: crab ravioli with saffron, basil, and tomatoes) and pizzas, which throw down the gastronomic gauntlet with the addition of black truffle on some, and rich, creamy burrata and slices of Prosciutto San Daniele on others. Cecconi’s Berlin is known for its weekend brunch, too, in which Smoked Salmon Royale and bottles of perfectly chilled Champagne come out to play.

Speaking of: the drinks list, as you’d expect from a restaurant in such close proximity to the high-end surrounds of Soho House, is well crafted. But, and this is more surprising, it’s also pretty good value considering you can quaff cocktails like the Soho Negroni (made with Bombay Sapphire, Suze, and Martini Bianco) and the memorable Spritz Punch (a beguiling combination of rosemary-infused Aperol, honey, grapefruit and Bourbon). Not to mention the great selection of wines, which are available by the glass and bottle, as well as in wallet-friendly carafes.
