Chemould Gallery

One of the oldest galleries in the country, and one that is critical to India’s modern art scene, Chemould has, over the years, represented major artists many of whom led the first waves of India’s modernist and contemporary art movements. The gallery is housed in a hundred year old British colonial building with a central gallery area of roughly 5,000 square feet as well as a smaller display area within the larger space.

Key Indian artists such as Atul Dodiya and Jitish Kallat, emerged with the support of the gallery to become key proponents of the modern art movement in India. Combine a visit here with BMB Gallery, which is just around the corner.
