Hg2 : The Hedonist

Chez Pauline

Given the lack of salad in BA, it’s surprising what a simple piece of lettuce can do for you when it’s drizzled with real French dressing made by French owner Pauline Rosaz. And if it’s tea you’re after, Pauline makes delicious cakes and has shipped in over 100 varieties of tea – including delicacies such as Oh la la and Madame Butterfly, as well as the traditional English Breakfast and Earl Grey.
rnChequered floors and a solid wooden counter await customers, which comprise an eclectic mix of elderly ladies on their way to visit their psychoanalysts, and twenty-something local girls with their love interests, who refuse to risk their reputations on dinner dates but are willing to risk an outing in daylight hours. Pauline Rosaz came to Buenos Aires to live quietly, but luckily for the Recoleta neighbourhood she has imported a little Gallic charm – and reminded locals that many of the buildings they live in are, in fact, very French.
