As the Italian answer to Juliette Binoche in the film Chocolat, chocoholic Marina opened this tiny café because chocolate is her ‘passion’ (her answer to Johnny Depp is apparently away right now), which evidently makes it one of the best bakeries in Milan. rnrnJust as we drink coffee for energy, she believes we should eat chocolate for happiness; the petite Marina resists normal food so she can eat more chocolate. Her favourite is fondente, the darkest 100% cocoa, which is in ample supplies in the shop, along with all sorts of Italian and Sicilian chocolates. Her hot chocolate is thick like chocolate sauce, and comes served in beautiful ceramics decorated with full-to-bursting cartoon cows. rnrnHappiness fixes are also available from an array of rich chocolate cakes and brownies. There’s a big focus on fresh home-made ice cream, from an inviting counter resembling mini snowdrifts variously flavoured with white chocolate, Kinder eggs, and the bestselling fondente with chilli. Even the décor is choco-themed, with chunky chocolate cube stools and walls that look like they’ve been painted in hot chocolate.
