Clinton Street Bakery
When chef Neil Ferguson wants to indulge in a little lonesome comfort, or to sooth the wounds of previous late night’s shenanigans, Clinton Street Baking Company is his go-to for the comfort of blueberry pancakes, biscuit sandwiches with bacon and tomato relish, Vidalia onion rings, fried green tomatoes, and big Black Angus, cheese-draped burgers on brioche. Mmmm.
But this ain’t greasy kid stuff – chef/owner Neil Kleinberg trained under the gimlet eye of chef Rick Moonen during his Water Club years but his down-to-earth Brooklyn roots and philanthropic notions (he did a stint for a while teaching run-away kids how to cook) drew him to open a true neighborhood joint where faces become familiar and consistently good cooking is always on the menu. As for us, we love the fat, crispy catch-o’-the-day po’ boys and gooey hot fudge sundaes.
