Hg2 : The Hedonist

Cockatoo Island

It already plays host to campers, music festivals and a seasonal cocktail bar and fairly recently, the Federation-style buildings, which used to house convicts and misbehaved reformatory school girls, have been luxuriously refurbished into some of the most exclusive self-catering accommodation in Sydney. There are various styles to choose from, including one and two-bedroom apartments and larger Federation houses that can sleep up to ten people. All have been beautifully restored with free-standing bathtubs, flatscreen televisions, CD and DVD players, iPod dock alarm clocks and board games. You need to bring all your food and booze across on the ferry, as the cottages are designed to be self-catering, but it’s worth it. While all cottages feature modern kitchens equipped with basic utensils and washing machines, nothing beats cooking up a feast on the barbecue on the outdoor terraces that face the city and Harbour Bridge.
