The Comfort is one of Astana’s better-established hotels, having been open for 10 years, and can be found on the Left Bank close to the city park and a few minutes from the administrative centre. This serviceable hotel boasts pleasant staff and 50 simple, comfortable (hence the name) rooms with small bathrooms. The unshowy décor continues throughout the lobby and restaurant and there’s a small, decent gym and sauna as well as the Comfort Beauty salon offering basic beauty and spa treatments. Despite its seemingly no-frills approach, the Comfort charges surprisingly steep prices, leading us to believe that management may be resting on its laurels after 10 years and few other rivals at this end of the market. Currently, the best value to be had here is at the weekend when the hotel slashes its prices, but as there are now several newer hotels on the scene offering a similar product at a better price it will be interesting to see if prices become more competitive during the week.
