Hg2 : The Hedonist

Commander’s Palace

Members of the Brennan family made this rambling Victorian mansion into one of the most famous restaurants in America – Commander’s Palace. Located in the heart of the Garden District (and across from a cemetery), this Creole restaurant is renowned for its lighter, more modern take on Creole classics and a booze-fueled jazz brunch that makes many diners long for an afternoon nap. Lunch draws a larger number of upper-crust locals, who can be distinguished from the tourists by their larger consumption of cocktails. Tables in the Garden Room (upstairs overlooking the patio) are best, but each of the many dining rooms has its charms. The waiting staff are known for unobtrusive, attentive service.
