Crazy Nuts
Crazy Nuts proudly presents itself as Lisbon’s first hamburger house so if you’re grabbed by the sudden desire to devour a burger or sink a frothy milkshake, head to this uptown diner where the food is fast and service comes with a smile. The walls are cluttered with Hollywood postcards and 1950s memorabilia assembled in the 20 years since opening.
The zebra-print upholstery and collection of inflatable animals hint at the eccentric tastes of crazy owner Carolina, whose larger-than-life presence is most definitely felt. Unfortunately the food isn’t quite so impressive, but being in such good company it’s not a problem. Groups of students in thrift-shop threads huddle in the wooden booths, imagining themselves as extras in American Graffiti. Hardly Manhattan, but it beats McDonald’s any day!
