Smoked, deep-fried and packed with outrageous, decadent accoutrements, this little step-down hot dog purveyor in the East Village is no ordinary wiener. There are two-dozen toppings from which to choose, from good ol’ standbys like chili, relish, mustard, and cheese to “what the.?” adornments like avocado, bacon, and pineapple.
For Damian Sansonetti, Crif Dog’s bestow upon him “bacon wrapped hot dog goodness,” and Public’s Brad Farmerie digs the tiny shop’s eat-n-run whimsy: “Crif dogs is a funny hot dog place in the East Village (hippies, students, vagab-onds, rockers, etc), with old school video games, action figures (not sure why), and great hot dog toppings.”
Grab a Chihahua (avocado, sour cream, and bacon), plug some cash into the Ms. Pac Man machine, or just grab a Stoner Pack 2 to go, which is basically whatever they feel like giving you, but, as the menu says, “enough to satisfy two regular stoners or 1 really, really fucked individual.” Niiiice!
