Croissant d’Or
This pretty little pastry shop, with its white tiled floor, stained glass wall, and marble counter, occupies the original, early 20th-century location of Angelo Brocato – but now goes by the name of Croissant d’Or. You can still see a “Ladies’ Entrance” marked with tiles in the sidewalk outside. A good selection of well-made French pastries and quiches complement the coffee and teas. The location, deep in the French Quarter, draws both neighbours and guests of nearby hotels and B&Bs. Conversation moves easily from table to table, and the service is friendly. Take a seat near the window and watch the street scene outside as you devour the ever-popular hot béchamel croissant sandwich.
